Position Overview

The Peer Specialist plays an essential role within a multidisciplinary team at MultiCare. By offering personal insights into the recovery journey, symptom management, and the resilience needed by individuals facing severe mental health challenges, you will help cultivate a culture of respect, empathy, and understanding within the team.

Key Responsibilities

Provide peer counseling and support, utilizing shared experiences to validate and encourage patients in taking charge of their health and wellness. Act as a mentor to inspire hope and empowerment among patients. Offer insights from a mental health consumer perspective to the team regarding patients' experiences with symptoms, treatment responses, and recovery journeys. Assist in delivering direct clinical services to patients through individual, group, and family interactions, focusing on skill-building and coping strategies. Promote consumer self-help initiatives and advocacy organizations that support recovery.

Qualifications

High school diploma preferred or two years of relevant experience working with individuals facing severe mental health challenges. Successful completion of required training. Ability to secure Agency Affiliated Counselor registration within 90 days of employment. Peer Counselor certification or the ability to obtain it within one year of employment. Valid driver's license in the state. Personal experience as a recipient of mental health services for severe and persistent mental health conditions. Proof of a safe driving record in accordance with established standards.

Compensation and Benefits

MultiCare offers a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental, retirement benefits, and paid time off. The compensation range for this position is $28.58 USD, influenced by factors such as skill set, experience level, and certifications. For positions under a union contract, pay will align with the appropriate step on the pay scale based on the applicant's experience.
