Software Applications Administrator Position at Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago

Overview

As a Software Applications Administrator at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, your primary role will be to ensure the seamless administration, upkeep, and support of software applications to effectively meet the needs of our stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform testing on various software applications and programs
  • Install, manage, and provide support for third-party applications across the District
  • Oversee application performance to minimize downtime and troubleshoot issues
  • Collaborate on new initiatives as an applications authority
  • Serve as a bridge between functional departments, technology teams, and project leaders
  • Assist in the design, development, and enhancement of software systems
  • Administer and provide consultancy on the District's software applications
  • Assess user feedback and implement necessary updates

Additional Duties

  • Offer after-hours and weekend support as required
  • Carry out other assigned responsibilities

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficiency in programming languages and software development methodologies
  • Understanding of computer hardware and software systems
  • Experience in creating application documentation
  • Competence in writing software programs
  • Aptitude for analyzing program failures and leading project teams

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in information technology, computer science, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of four years of experience in applications programming.

Substitution Policy

Graduate-level coursework in computer science may substitute for up to two years of the required experience. Relevant full-time work experience may also replace educational requirements.

Promotional Eligibility

  • At least two years of service with the District in pertinent roles
  • Civil service status in related classifications
