Job Summary

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago is seeking a highly skilled Applications Administrator to provide on-going administration, maintenance, and support of software applications. This role will ensure the application continues to meet the customer's needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough testing of programs and software applications to guarantee they produce the desired information or results.
  • Install, implement, administer, support, and maintain third-party District-wide applications.
  • Monitor designated applications and take corrective action to prevent or minimize system downtime.
  • Identify issues with software applications and recommend revisions, repairs, or expansion of programs.
  • Collaborate on new projects as an applications subject matter expert.
  • Act as a technology integration liaison between functional units, technology teams, project managers, and other areas.
  • Assist with the design, development, and modification of software systems; install and maintain system software; ensure proper access controls are in place on all systems.
  • Administer the District's software applications.
  • Consult with applications developers and other technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and recommend changes.
  • Interact with network administrators, systems analysts, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or District software systems.
  • Evaluate user feedback on application performance and recommend necessary revisions. Implement required patches/fixes for supported applications.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university majoring in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field.
  • Four years of experience in applications programming and/or development.
  • Graduate study in computer science or a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years.
  • Full-time paid experience in applications programming and/or development may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Two years of service with the District as an Applications Analyst, GIS Analyst, or IT Support Coordinator.
  • Civil service status in one of the foregoing classifications.
