Job Overview

Position: Automation Controls Specialist

As an Automation Controls Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting advanced electrical diagnostics on manufacturing systems and PLC-controlled production line machinery. A comprehensive understanding of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems within a production environment is essential.

Your role will involve collaborating with the production team to address downtime challenges effectively. This includes testing and upgrading existing production equipment, as well as the installation and evaluation of new manufacturing, packaging, and processing machinery. You will also interface with machine tools and specialized equipment, troubleshoot current systems, and implement modifications to enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on a variety of PLC systems within the facility.
  • Diagnose program issues and implement solutions.
  • Create and interpret logic flow diagrams for program design and development.
  • Provide technical support to enhance and refine operational processes.
  • Configure, install, and repair automation and control devices.
  • Monitor equipment performance to identify maintenance needs and potential replacements.
  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on electrical systems throughout the organization.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, production, and quality systems.
  • Read and comprehend mechanical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Adhere to project timelines and established processes.
  • Assist with the coordination of external contractors as necessary.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
  • Review controls documentation and installation plans.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Participate in training and development initiatives to enhance knowledge of relevant systems.
  • Mentor and train emerging talent in PLC maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Follow all safety protocols and work procedures.

This position requires a commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement while ensuring a safe working environment. You will work closely with various departments to maintain and optimize the electrical and mechanical infrastructure, ensuring efficient processing and maximizing operational uptime.
