Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Collections Librarian to join our team at UMass Dartmouth. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance in the area of library collections, including procurement and management. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, contributing to the strategic direction of the library and university.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage acquisitions workflows, including vendor source selection, ordering and receiving materials, recordkeeping, and expense control for library materials in all forms.
  • Plan and oversee collection management activities, including selection, assessment, inventorying, de-selection, and dispersal of library materials.
  • Negotiate with vendors on all aspects of product and service provision, including licenses.
  • Participate in the hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating of library staff and student employees.
  • Assist in developing and managing the library materials budget, including participation in the allocation process.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited degree program (or an equivalent international program).
  • Experience in an academic library, with a focus on acquisitions and collection management.
  • Strong knowledge of academic library acquisitions and collection management practices.
  • Supervisory experience and ability to effectively organize information, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
What We Offer

UMass Dartmouth offers a competitive salary range of $73,000.00-$85,000.00, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including 75% employer-paid health insurance, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, long-term disability, and state pension retirement plan.
