Position Overview


Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is in search of a dedicated Equipment Installation Design Engineer for the Integrated Fighter Group (IFG).

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will leverage their technical skills to devise solutions for challenges related to the design of aircraft equipment and systems installations.

Core Duties Include:

  • Develop designs for the installation of aircraft equipment and crew station hardware, including Line Replacement Units (LRUs), control panels, and various cockpit systems (displays, radios, etc.) along with their supporting components.
  • Perform trade studies and assess alternatives to optimize the form, fit, and function of equipment installations.
  • Define, develop, and finalize layouts for equipment and systems, including harness interfaces.
  • Generate Build-to-Packages for detailed parts, assemblies, and installations.
  • Collaborate with other technical disciplines to ensure optimized integration at the aircraft level, considering factors such as producibility, maintainability, tooling, interchangeability, and materials & processes.

Who You Are

Basic Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Aeronautical, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with 3DX, CATIA, SolidWorks, or equivalent 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
  • Experience in creating and/or modifying technical drawings.

Preferred Skills

  • Background in aircraft equipment installation design and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with 3DX or CATIA V5.
  • Experience in metallic design.
  • Competence in hand analysis for initial part layout.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

The annual base salary range for this position varies based on location and market factors.
