About the Role

Parkland Health and Hospital System is seeking a skilled Cytotechnologist to join our team. As a cytotechnologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by analyzing specimens and reporting results to pathologists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Screen pap smears and non-gynecological slides, reporting results according to established protocol.
  • Review patient history in association with screening cytology slides.
  • Document workload and submit weekly reports for review, collaborating with pathologists to improve and provide quality patient care.
  • Maintain a False Negative Proportion (FNP) of ± 1-2% of the lab average, ensuring high-quality patient care.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and hospital employees to effectively communicate and provide excellent patient care.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science-related field or Master's degree in a Science-related field if a Bachelor's degree is in a non-science related field.
  • Registration as a Cytotechnologist through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (CT-ASCP) or International Accreditation (CT-IAC).
  • Ability to exercise judgment based on technical knowledge, maintain orderliness, and keep accurate records.
