About the Position

Tacoma Community College is seeking a part-time professor to join our pool of adjunct faculty members. As a part-time professor, you will have the opportunity to teach and mentor students in our College Success course, which is designed to help students transition to college-level coursework.

Responsibilities
  • Teach and assess student learning in the College Success course
  • Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of diverse student populations
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of departmental goals and objectives
  • Maintain current knowledge in the field of college success and culturally responsive pedagogy
  • Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Adult Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Advising, Developmental Studies, Education, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university
  • OR Bachelor's degree and at least two years' experience with community college advising/case management
Conditions of Employment
  • Successfully complete a criminal history background check prior to employment
  • Demonstrated qualities and commitments of a successful candidate, including ethics and integrity, knowledge of and interest in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and commitment to working with first-generation and other underrepresented groups
