Job Summary:

The Fireproofing/Scaffold Superintendent is the senior craft person responsible for overseeing the construction of scaffolding and the application of fireproofing materials. This individual will supervise and direct crews to ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Communication: Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and leadership to understand job scope and schedule.
  • Crew Management: Conduct crew meetings and toolbox meetings to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe work site, free of safety hazards, by monitoring compliance with project safety program requirements.
  • Manpower Management: Oversee direct manpower at the job site, ensuring a profitable level of labor while meeting project deadlines.
  • Administrative Duties: Perform administrative tasks such as yard and job site inventory, safety meetings, fall plans, hazard analysis, payroll time sheets, equipment rental, return tickets, change orders, time and material tickets, bill of materials, and other site paperwork accurately and neatly.
  • Project Review: Review and understand the pre-job plan to ensure that the job is built as bid and designed.
  • Scope of Work: Document and account for work done out-of-scope to ensure the company can recoup costs as change orders.
  • Supervisory Duties: Carry out supervisory duties in accordance with company policies and applicable employment laws.
  • Foreman Management: Manage and communicate with foremen on their work, correcting work and work processes as needed.
  • Estimation and Planning: Estimate leg footage and man hours for any given project.
  • Material Management: Ensure accurate loading, unloading, and storage of assigned materials and equipment.
  • Facility Management: Responsible for proper use and care for all GCI and Client facilities and equipment.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) of the work, including inspection and documentation.
  • Resource Allocation: Estimate material and worker requirements to complete job.
  • Employee Assignment: Assign work to employees.
  • Timekeeping: Ensure up-to-date, accurate time records, and ensures that man-hours, materials, and quantities are properly reported.
  • Installation Planning: Analyze and plan installation and construction of equipment and structures.
  • Employee Development: Ensure workers are proficient in understanding GCI best practices.
  • Process Improvement: Recommend measures to improve production methods and equipment performance to increase efficiency and safety.

Key Requirements, Education, and Experience:

  • Education: High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or equivalent.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral skills to effectively communicate with co-workers and customers.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities to inspire and coach employees to accomplish strategic goals and related tasks.
  • Professional Image: Present a clean professional image and encourage subordinates to do the same.
  • Experience: 5 years of craft experience in the commercial or industrial markets and at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Accuracy and Problem-Solving: Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy and make decisions based on measurable criteria.
  • Mathematics and Computer Skills: Apply basic mathematics and solve problems, and possess basic computer skills and knowledge of word processing programs, spreadsheets, email platforms, and other communication tools.
  • Work Environment: Work at heights without fear and follow directions.
  • Knowledge and Understanding: Have knowledge of safe work practices, understand scope-of-contract, and change order process.
