As a Patient Care Assistant, you will provide essential support to residents under the guidance of licensed nursing staff. Your role is crucial in fostering a nurturing and supportive environment for our residents at Bell-Minor Home Inc.
Key Responsibilities
We expect our team members to cultivate a spirit of collaboration and hospitality. The following duties are part of your role:
- Deliver personal care services, including grooming, bathing, dressing, and oral hygiene, tailored to residents' needs.
- Regularly change bed linens and ensure grooming supplies are well-stocked in resident rooms.
- Assist residents with mobility and transfers, employing appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Document vital signs, weight, and other health metrics as assigned.
- Position and turn residents as required to ensure comfort and health.
- Monitor residents attentively and communicate any changes in their condition to the nursing staff.
- Support residents in making choices about their care within the caregiving framework.
- Contribute to the data collection for care plans and assist nurses in developing these plans.
- Ensure residents receive adequate hydration throughout the day based on individual needs.
- Prepare residents for meals and assist with dining arrangements, ensuring accessibility and support for those needing help.
- Maintain accurate records of food and fluid intake as directed.
- Assist nursing staff in maintaining hygiene standards to prevent infections.
- Be vigilant about the environment, ensuring proper ventilation, temperature, and noise levels.
- Respond promptly to resident requests and call lights.
- Utilize safe lifting techniques when assisting residents.
- Help orient and train new staff members as needed.
- Participate in educational programs to fulfill training requirements.
- Familiarize yourself with safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Uphold the confidentiality of resident information and facility records.
- Ensure the safety and dignity of residents, protecting them from neglect and abuse.
- Adhere to attendance policies and maintain cleanliness in assigned areas.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by supervisors.
- Current certification as a Nursing Assistant.
- CPR certification must be maintained.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Fast-paced setting requiring quick decision-making.
- Engagement with residents, staff, and visitors under various circumstances.
- Flexibility to work beyond regular hours, including weekends and emergencies.
- Exposure to infectious materials and hazardous substances.
- Assist in evacuating residents during emergencies.
- Ability to function independently and work collaboratively with others.
- Meet health standards as per facility policies.
This position involves a variety of physical activities, including lifting, walking, and standing, with the expectation of maintaining a high level of engagement with residents and staff.
