Patient Care Technician

As a Patient Care Technician, you will be responsible for delivering direct care to residents under the guidance of licensed nursing staff. Your role is crucial in fostering a nurturing physical and emotional environment for our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
This facility values teamwork and aims to provide comfort and hospitality to its residents. The following duties are essential to your role:
- Assist residents with personal hygiene tasks, including grooming, bathing, dressing, and oral care on a daily basis.
- Regularly change bed linens and ensure grooming supplies are adequately stocked in resident rooms.
- Support residents in mobility and transfers, utilizing appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Document vital signs, weight, and other relevant health information as assigned.
- Monitor residents and report any changes in their condition to the Charge Nurse.
- Encourage residents' autonomy in decision-making within the caregiving framework.
- Contribute to the data collection necessary for the completion of care plans and assessments.
- Ensure residents are well-hydrated throughout the day based on individual needs.
- Prepare residents for meals and assist them as needed, ensuring accessibility to food and self-help devices.
- Maintain accurate records of food intake and output as directed.
- Assist nursing staff in adhering to infection control protocols.
- Ensure a comfortable environment by monitoring ventilation, temperature, and noise levels.
- Respond promptly to resident calls and needs.
- Utilize proper body mechanics during resident handling.
- Participate in training and orientation of new staff members as required.
- Attend educational programs to fulfill facility training requirements.
- Familiarize yourself with safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Uphold the confidentiality of resident information and facility records.
- Protect residents from neglect and ensure their personal belongings are safeguarded.
- Adhere to attendance policies and maintain cleanliness in assigned areas.
- Perform additional duties as directed by supervisors.
- Current certification as a Nursing Assistant.
- CPR certification must be maintained.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
This position may involve challenges due to frequent interruptions and a fast-paced atmosphere, requiring quick decision-making. You will interact with residents, staff, and visitors under various circumstances. Flexibility in work hours, including weekends and emergencies, may be necessary. Exposure to infectious materials and hazardous substances is possible.
Physical Requirements:
Assist in emergency evacuations and meet general health standards set by the facility. Your role will involve:
- Frequent walking and standing, with occasional sitting.
- Regular lifting and carrying of resident items and medical supplies.
- Engaging in various physical activities, including bending, squatting, and reaching.
This position is governed by the principle of at-will employment, allowing for termination by either party without prior notice. This facility adheres to a nondiscriminatory policy in all employment practices.
