About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Engineering Intern to join our team at Alliant Engineering, Inc. As a Construction Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of civil construction projects and gain hands-on experience in the field.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with inspection and oversight of civil engineering construction projects.
  • Verify conformance of contractors' work with approved plans and specifications.
  • Prepare contractor pay estimates and maintain detailed records of construction.
  • Coordinate materials testing activities, perform quantity calculations, and produce project record documentation.
  • Be responsible for gathering information or documents for design purposes and performing basic survey and design calculations.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing an Associates or Bachelor's degree in Civil Technology, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have completed at least one (1) year of post-secondary education, with at least one (1) semester of education remaining.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic surveying and engineering calculations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction terminology.
  • General undergraduate-level proficiency with math, surveying, construction plan reading and review, materials testing, and construction materials and techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety.
  • Basic computer skills to include some of the following program types:
  • AutoCAD Civil3D
  • Microstation
  • Microsoft Office
  • Other applicable software applications
