The Accounting Technician plays a crucial role in the financial operations of the Yosemite Community College District. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for executing technical financial and accounting tasks that involve the assessment, processing, preparation, maintenance, and verification of financial, accounting, and statistical records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform technical accounting duties, including the preparation and maintenance of financial reports and statements.
- Assist in the evaluation and processing of financial data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established standards.
- Utilize specialized knowledge to support departmental fiscal and accounting functions.
- Work independently on routine assignments while seeking guidance on complex issues.
- Oversee and monitor the work of subordinate staff on specific projects or assignments.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as experience with financial record-keeping and reporting. The ability to effectively communicate and establish professional relationships is essential.
Skills Required:
- Proficiency in modern accounting software and financial applications.
- Strong mathematical skills for complex calculations.
- Ability to maintain and reconcile accounting ledgers.
- Experience in developing and monitoring budgets.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge and skills is necessary. Typical qualifications include:
- Two years of experience equivalent to an Accounting Assistant, or
- An associate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, along with two years of relevant clerical work experience.
Work Environment:
This position is primarily office-based, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods and perform tasks that involve fine manipulation and visual acuity.
