Position Overview

The Kennewick School District 17 is seeking a dedicated Specialized Support Specialist to join our team in the Autism Inclusion Program. This role is essential in providing assistance and supervision to students with Autism in both general and specialized educational environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with special education teachers and fellow support staff to deliver effective educational instruction.
  • Maintain accurate documentation to track student progress and ensure compliance with educational standards.
  • Support students' physical and health needs as required, fostering a safe and positive learning atmosphere.
  • Implement behavioral intervention strategies as prescribed, contributing to the overall well-being of students.
  • Assist in the supervision of students during various activities, including recess and physical education.
  • Engage in clerical and instructional tasks to support teachers and specialists.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with one of the following:

  • An Associate's degree
  • 72 quarter college credits
  • 48 semester college credits
  • A passing score on the ETS test

Additionally, candidates should demonstrate:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping and communication.
  • Willingness to obtain first aid certification and complete required training.

Physical Requirements

The role requires the ability to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Engage in physical activities necessary for student supervision.

Work Environment

Employees may work in various settings, including outdoor environments, and must be prepared for diverse weather conditions.
