CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Adherence to board policies and administrative procedures is essential.
  • Must take all necessary precautions to safeguard students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Attendance at in-service training or meetings as required is expected, along with any training directed by management.
  • Ability to assess and address safety-related issues is required.
  • Must establish and maintain effective, cooperative relationships with students, parents, staff, and management.
  • Professional approach to assigned work, with a focus on teamwork and continuous improvement, is essential.
  • Proficiency in the English language for effective verbal and written communication is necessary.
  • Basic computer skills for record maintenance, timecard entry, and email communication are required.
  • First-aid certification may be required.
  • Strong academic background in reading, writing, and math is essential; candidates may be tested to meet minimum qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

  • Prior experience supporting special education students in mainstream education settings is advantageous.
  • Experience as a special education paraeducator or similar roles is preferred.
  • Experience working with children with disabilities is beneficial.
  • Ability to take initiative and perform tasks with minimal supervision is desirable.
  • Confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
  • Experience working with students with learning disabilities and behavioral challenges is preferred.
  • Ability to foster a warm and encouraging learning environment is essential.
  • Flexibility and teamwork skills are necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with supervising teachers is required.
  • Training and/or experience with computers, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and other applications, is preferred.
  • Positive recommendations and performance evaluations are beneficial.
  • Evidence of excellent attendance, punctuality, and dependability is required; self-discipline and initiative are essential.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct assistance to special education students requiring remediation accommodations in both regular and special services classrooms.
  • Support teachers with clerical and instructional tasks as needed.
  • Assist in supervising students to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately and efficiently to comply with regulations.
  • Supervise outdoor/recess activities as assigned.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with district policies and procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Carry out other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

  • Lifting: The employee must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs. and up to 100 lbs. with assistance; overhead lifting may also be required.
