Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Capital Projects Manager II to join our team at the County of Santa Clara CA. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for managing complex construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage project scope, budget, and schedule
  • Manage consultant and contractor selection process
  • Communicate with stakeholders, including County officials, consultants, and contractors
  • Ensure projects meet County needs and are compatible with master plans
  • Manage project budgets and schedules
  • Analyze claims and approve payment requests
  • Participate in public hearings and prepare project reports
  • Provide guidance to consultants on project criteria, regulations, and codes
  • Identify and manage responses to CEQA, ADA, and other special requirements
  • Evaluate existing facilities and review technical reports
  • Inspect progress and approve completion of construction projects
  • Secure approval of designs, permits, and construction documents
  • May supervise lower-level staff and contractors
  • May assign and approve work of construction inspectors

Requirements:

  • Sufficient education, training, and experience to demonstrate possession and direct application of knowledge and abilities
  • Training and experience equivalent to possession of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college with a major in Architecture, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, or a closely related field
  • Five years of experience in architecture, landscape architecture, or engineering project design and construction management, or space planning as a fully licensed professional or under a licensed professional, of which two years must have been equivalent to a Capital Projects Manager I level with the County of Santa Clara
  • Possession of a California driver's license upon appointment and the ability to qualify for and maintain a County driver's authorization
  • Certificate of Registration Engineer or Architect (in one of the major technical disciplines related to construction) or Licensure by the State of California Landscape Architects Technical Committee is highly desirable
