About EPD:

Caterpillar's Electric Power Division (EPD) offers integrated solutions, parts, and services to meet the needs of our various commercial and industrial electric power customers. We support a wide range of customer applications across the globe, including providing back-up power to hospitals, providing emergency power when natural disasters strike, and supporting critical infrastructure for data centers, municipalities, and more.

Job Summary:

The Program Management Manager will provide direct leadership to the Caterpillar Switchgear AES project management team responsible for successful execution of AES projects and/or accounts from Order Entry through Project Closeout. The Program manager will have a thorough knowledge of the principles relating to the design, and operation of paralleling switchgear systems and AES solutions.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the hiring, development and management of AES Project Management team. You will also design, establish and monitor the organization's project management goals. Additionally, you will lead a team of Project Managers and analysts who plan, schedule, manage, supervise, and oversee the execution of broad and complex AES projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day work assignments while coaching, mentoring and setting priorities.
  • Designing, establishing and monitoring the organization's project management goals.
  • Lead a team of Project Managers and analysts who plan, schedule, manage, supervise, and oversee the execution of broad and complex AES projects.
  • Management / escalation of financial, commercial, contractual, and technical aspects of the AES projects as well as oversight for the planning, design, procurement, assembly, test, shipment, and commissioning of AES projects.
  • Manage commercial aspects and support technical direction to various other project teams, including engineering, purchasing, production and field service teams.
Requirements:
  • Budgeting: Knowledge of organization's budget process; ability to apply policies and practices for planning and administering a budget.
  • Level Working Knowledge:
    • Applies established organizational practices in budgeting.
    • Under guidance, produces budget reports of planned vs. actual expenses with variances explained.
    • SUPPLIES SUPPORTING INFORMATION AND JUSTIFICATION FOR MAJOR LINE ITEMS.
    • Uses budgeting and charge-back practices within own area.
  • Conflict Management: Knowledge of managing conflicts; ability to anticipate, recognize, and deal effectively with existing or potential conflicts at the individual, group, or situation level.
  • Level Working Knowledge:
    • Identifies and maximizes areas of agreement in order to mitigate tensions.
    • Uses a specific methodology for conflict resolution.
    • FACILITATES RECONCILIATION RATHER THAN DIVISIVENESS AMONG INDIVIDUALS.
    • Under guidance, appropriately confronts others to get issues out in the open.
    • Uses active listening skills and probing techniques to understand cause of a conflict.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Level Working Knowledge:
    • Applies an assigned technique for critical thinking in a decision-making process.
