Position Overview:
- Engages in routine tasks that can be acquired through on-the-job training.
- Adheres to work instructions provided both verbally and in written form.
- Collaborates closely with the Food Service Supervisor to uphold set standards.
- Organizes food and supplies in dining areas for residents, including refrigeration and storage zones.
- Prepares portions of food ahead of meal times for tray assembly.
- Prepares snacks for residents during the evening and between meals.
- Assembles necessary supplies and supplements for distribution.
- Conducts basic food preparation tasks such as opening cans and making sandwiches.
- Prepares the tray line for assembly by activating required equipment.
- Sets up the tray line with essential food items, trays, dishes, portioning tools, and tray labels.
- Assembles meals on trays according to menu specifications and resident preferences.
- Cleans and sanitizes cooking utensils, dishes, serving tools, refrigerators, food carts, work areas, and other related food service environments.
- Disposes of waste, garbage, and soiled linens appropriately.
- Transports tray carts, food items, and other supplies to and from the dietary area.
- Performs additional related responsibilities as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Unloads food and supply deliveries, transporting and stocking items in kitchens, freezers, coolers, and storage areas.
- Plates desserts, prepares salads, and refills condiment containers.
- Serves hot food items.
- Calls out dietary orders for tray assembly; organizes plates and delivers trays to and from the serving area.
- Washes cooking pots, pans, and other utensils; polishes silverware; and cleans dining areas and kitchens.
- Maintains cleanliness of refrigerators, food carts, toasters, grills, coffee machines, and other kitchen equipment.
- Sanitizes countertops and dining furniture.
- Scrapes dishes and silverware, operates dishwashing machines, and organizes clean items.
- Cleans floors, walls, and ceilings, including dusting, mopping, sweeping, stripping, and waxing.
- Completes related tasks as required.
Communication Responsibilities:
- Participates in Dietary Department meetings as needed.
- Informs the Supervisor on duty of any concerns regarding coworkers, following the established chain of command if issues persist.
- All staff members are expected to interact respectfully with residents.
General Responsibilities:
- Uphold ethical standards to ensure confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations as trained.
- Other duties as assigned.
