Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Inland Marine Underwriter to become a vital part of our team. This role involves production underwriting, focusing on the marketing, underwriting, and processing of Inland Marine lines of business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and price insurance policies to ensure compliance with company underwriting standards and authorized limits.
  • Employ underwriting tools to ascertain precise classifications, rates, and premium assessments.
  • Engage with brokers through various communication channels to gather detailed risk information, negotiate terms, and clarify company policies.
  • Oversee a designated portfolio within the underwriting territory, monitoring the performance metrics of assigned brokers.
  • Analyze and interpret data from multiple reports and dashboards.
  • Conduct thorough underwriting assessments and maintain comprehensive underwriting documentation.
  • Address audit disputes within the designated territory.
  • Review relevant state regulations regarding cancellations and non-renewals to ensure proper business transactions.
  • Participate in departmental educational initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years of relevant insurance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least three years of underwriting experience with authority, particularly in Inland Marine lines.
  • A proven history of driving profitable growth.
  • Ability to effectively engage in negotiations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous educational achievements in insurance, with IIA and CPCU designations preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with the initiative to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Compensation and Benefits: The salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. In addition to base salary, employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on both company and individual performance, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
