Job Description

Environmental Resources Management (ERM) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Sustainability Consultant to join our team. As a senior leader, you will be responsible for supporting a range of environmental management projects to build a sustainable business locally, while networking with ERM's global technical team to share best practices across the industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and implementation of environmental management systems, compliance assessments, and audits to ensure effective risk control and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule expectations, ensuring quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Perform environmental compliance audits and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop, manage, and implement environmental management systems and programs for corporate clients.
  • Manage and develop plans, permits, and procedures for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, storm water, and wastewater.
  • Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business to grow the EHS team in the region.
  • Provide on-site compliance support at client facilities.
  • Appropriately delegate project assignments to project teams and mentor junior staff.
  • Contribute to expanding ERM's EHS business by identifying and developing new opportunities, preparing effective technical proposals, and taking an active leadership role in developing new business with new and existing clients.
  • Design and direct corporate environmental strategies and programs, achieving client expectations for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
  • Lead, manage performance, hire and retain, inspire and mentor personnel for overall success of the technical team.
  • Build client relationships and nurture repeat business by continuously striving to build a network within and outside of ERM that will enable you to leverage your skills and solve challenging multi-disciplinary client challenges.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, environmental science, safety, business administration, or a related discipline, or the equivalency of 8+ years related experience in lieu of education.
  • 4-5 years (10+ years preferred) relevant experience in working with organizations on environmental management, leadership/culture, and/or sustainable environmental compliance programs.
  • Experience maintaining corporate management standards (either as a consultant or an internal compliance officer).
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Be passionate about environmental performance improvement and have substantial experience developing and delivering world-class environmental program solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting, with guidance and direction. Ability to be adaptable, deal with ambiguity, flexible to changing situations, able to think outside the box, and to identify and respond rapidly to safety issues in field locations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills; experience writing comprehensive technical reports and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Willingness to travel, both within the United States and to international locations in support of client programs. Up to 40% travel may be required. Must have a valid passport.
  • BS/MS degree preferred (MPH, Bachelors of Science).
  • Certification in field; CSP, PE, or similar registration highly desirable.
