Position Overview:
The Veterans Educational Program Coordinator will oversee the implementation of educational initiatives tailored for veterans, ensuring each participant receives a personalized Individual Educational Plan (IEP). This role involves coordinating assessment services, delivering high-quality instruction, tracking student progress, providing academic advisement, and supervising tutoring and lab activities. The coordinator will report directly to the Project Director of the Veterans Upward Bound Project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop individualized instructional strategies and resources based on the unique academic needs of participants.
- Manage daily operations of the educational program in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Assist in drafting grant proposals to secure funding for program initiatives.
- Engage in outreach and recruitment efforts to attract veteran participants.
- Compile and present progress reports on participant achievements.
- Plan and evaluate academic services throughout the program year, making adjustments as necessary.
- Provide guidance and support to participants in various educational contexts.
- Advise prospective veteran students on admissions criteria and project requirements.
- Interpret and apply institutional admissions policies to assess student eligibility.
- Evaluate applicant qualifications based on academic history and military experience, collaborating with the admissions office.
- Foster positive relationships with program participants to enhance their educational experience.
- Respond to inquiries and assist students and staff with research and problem-solving.
- Maintain comprehensive academic records, monitoring student progress and addressing any issues that arise.
- Act as a liaison among students, faculty, and support staff to promote collaboration for academic success.
- Adhere to safety protocols and report any unsafe conditions to the appropriate authorities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Ability to effectively engage with diverse populations.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Competence in recruiting veterans and designing educational programs.
- Proficiency in preparing and managing records and reports in alignment with grant objectives.
- Critical thinking skills to facilitate learning-centered activities and analyze information.
- Flexibility to work in individualized instructional settings and develop engaging educational programs.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends, including travel as needed.
Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in education, adult education, or a related field from an accredited institution. A successful background check is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
A master's degree in education, adult education, or a related field is preferred.
Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is $46,000.00.
