Job Title: Chief (Environmental Permitting)

Join the City of New York's Department of Design and Construction as a Chief (Environmental Permitting) in the Safety and Site Support Division. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our team in ensuring environmental compliance and sustainability in construction projects.

Job Summary:

The Chief (Environmental Permitting) will be responsible for supervising project managers, reviewing work products for technical accuracy and completeness, and managing complex construction projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental permitting, construction management, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise project managers and review work products for technical accuracy and completeness
  • Manage complex construction projects, including stormwater pollution and prevention plans, site investigations, and environmental assessments
  • Ensure compliance with CEQR/SEQR requirements and federal, state, and local regulations
  • Coordinate with client agencies, regulators, and DDC's Public Buildings and Infrastructure divisions
  • Conduct field visits and respond to environmental or hazardous materials incidents
Qualifications:
  • Four-year high school diploma or equivalent and five years of experience in construction management and environmental permitting
  • Or one year of experience and a baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field
  • Or one year of experience and a valid license as a professional engineer, registered architect, or registered landscape architect
Additional Requirements:
  • Valid motor vehicle driver license in the State of New York
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
