About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Permitting and Siting Engineer to join our Earth & Environment Team in our New York City office. As a technical task lead, you will play a key role in supporting large-scale renewable energy projects and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support routing/siting studies, analyses, and associated reports and approvals
  • Develop and maintain relationships with public and private sector clients, agencies, partner firms and sub-consultants, as well as, other external stakeholders such as vendors and suppliers
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related degree
  • 3 to 5 years of experience managing environmental permitting and planning projects, for a variety of energy-related projects
  • Experience with noise assessments and noise mitigation in NYS
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC
  • Proven regulatory experience, including management of state and federal level filings
  • Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with state agency personnel and decision-makers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, defining and understanding client requirements, managing expectations, and communicating with clients and project staff
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering
  • Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related degree
  • Essential professional licensure/certification
