Position Overview
The Ares Secondaries division focuses on secondary market transactions involving private equity, real estate, and infrastructure investments, managing assets under management (AUM) of approximately $22 billion. We are currently seeking a Manager to enhance our vibrant Finance team, which consists of around 40 professionals across various locations.
The Manager/Senior Manager will play a crucial role in supervising and mentoring junior team members while collaborating with key stakeholders across Secondaries Deal Teams, Accounting, and Investor Relations. The ideal candidate should have experience in private equity or real estate funds, with a solid understanding of fund reporting, partnership accounting, and performance metrics. This position demands a proactive, adaptable, and hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and mentor analysts and associates.
- Deliver ongoing training and constructive feedback to staff and interns.
- Collaborate with investment professionals to assist in portfolio monitoring.
- Conduct thorough reviews of quarterly investment report valuations, including diversification metrics and valuation changes.
- Prepare or review documentation for quarterly investor reports and performance returns at both portfolio and fund levels (TWR, IRR, Multiples, etc.).
- Analyze and comprehend complex fund structures and vehicles.
- Prepare or review analyses of valuation changes and factors affecting portfolio investments.
- Process investment amendments and consents in collaboration with investment professionals.
- Participate in investment update discussions and prepare/review summary memos.
- Review data utilized by Investor Relations for investor presentations and fundraising initiatives.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting is required.
- MBA, CFA, or CPA credentials are advantageous.
- 8-10+ years of relevant financial experience, including public accounting.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in the private equity or private real estate sector is highly preferred.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office; familiarity with eFront Software is a plus.
- Strong staff development capabilities.
- High sense of ownership and accountability.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Able to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
- Dependable, positive attitude, highly motivated, and a team player.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is between $150,000 and $170,000. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. This range reflects a wide array of qualifications, including years of relevant experience, education, and other pertinent factors specific to the role.
