Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking is seeking a seasoned Credit Risk Officer (Executive Director) specializing in commercial real estate lending operations. This role is crucial within the second line of defense at Natixis, primarily responsible for overseeing the evaluation and credit assessment of the bank's commercial real estate lending portfolio. The Credit Risk department functions independently to ensure comprehensive risk oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough evaluations of credit risk transactions proposed by the business unit, offering constructive challenges and making recommendations to the Credit Committee for approval or denial.
- Foster and maintain productive relationships with various business unit contacts to prioritize and manage the onboarding requests for new counterparties effectively.
- Oversee and manage the existing portfolio of commercial real estate transactions, preparing analytical reports and presentations while staying informed about industry trends and macroeconomic factors that may influence the portfolio.
- Deliver presentations to Senior Credit Risk management, the Credit Committee, and other internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of findings and recommendations.
- Uphold full accountability for the firm's credit processes, policies, procedures, controls, and reporting, ensuring compliance with delegation authorities and lending policies.
- Perform detailed credit analysis and risk assessments, focusing on Sponsor counterparties, and validate internal credit ratings and related models.
- Contribute to the overall management of the Credit Risk group, sharing insights and experiences with industry peers and enhancing the risk culture within Natixis.
- Engage in the development and periodic review of policies and limit frameworks, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
- Propose risk mitigation strategies on both individual counterparty and portfolio levels as necessary.
- Experience with loan workouts or special servicing is advantageous.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree is required; a Graduate degree is preferred.
- At least 10-15 years of credit experience focused on commercial real estate lending.
- Extensive experience as a Credit Risk Officer with a solid grasp of credit risk, regulatory metrics, and risk mitigation techniques.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of establishing credibility with senior management and deal team executives.
- In-depth knowledge of internal credit rating models and credit risk monitoring systems.
- Strong technical, analytical, and quantitative skills with proficiency in credit analysis tools, including MS Word, Excel, and database management; familiarity with Argus or similar software is a plus.
