Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant/ Urology Technician I to join our team at Mass General Brigham. As a key member of our urology department, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians and nurses in delivering high-quality patient services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care and Support
    • Assist physicians and nurses with patient care during office visits and procedures.
    • Obtain and document accurate vital signs, height, weight, pain level, and allergies.
    • Ensure pre-visit paperwork is completed and accurate.
    • Perform ancillary services, such as urinalysis, as directed by physicians.
  • Clinical Operations
    • Assure efficient patient flow through the clinic by greeting patients, escorting them to exam rooms, and communicating with the care team.
    • Identify patients using two identifiers (name and date of birth).
    • Alert patients to possible delays in visit timing.
  • Exam Room Preparation and Maintenance
    • Clean and prepare exam rooms for next patients.
    • Ensure exam rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Quality and Safety
    • Participate in daily operational activities to maintain a safe patient care environment.
    • Check unit emergency equipment and biomedical safety checks.
    • Monitor refrigerator temperatures and maintain records.
  • Communication and Teamwork
    • Effectively communicate with patients, peers, nursing staff, and practice clinical manager.
    • Support and function as a member of the care team.
  • Urology-Specific Duties
    • Recognize and understand equipment necessary for urology procedures.
    • Set up urology procedure rooms for cystoscopies, prostate biopsies, and vasectomies.
    • Clean urological instruments using proper precautions and sterile technique.
    Requirements
    • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
    • Certificate: Medical Assistant.
