About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a critical role in performing and teaching diagnostic procedures in the field of Nuclear Medicine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals and operate highly technical instruments to analyze acquired data.
  • Work under the direct supervision of the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor and take direction from Nuclear Medicine physicians.
  • Evaluate requisitions, charts, and lab results to perform patient assessments and identify patient needs.
  • May perform advanced duties such as Positron Emission Technology (PET) imaging and/or lead technologist role.
  • Handle radiopharmaceuticals, including receipt, documentation, and disposal, following guidelines set by Radiation Safety Office and NRC.
  • Select, dose, and quality control review radiopharmaceuticals to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Set up acquisition and perform procedures according to protocol, maintaining patient comfort, care, and safety.
  • Analyze images and evaluate for correctness, processing films and submitting to physicians for approval.
  • Use RIS, CIS, SMS, and PACS to generate proper documentation and complete RIS orders with accurate charges.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
  • Registered as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or registry eligible and become registered within one (1) year from date of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
