Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Hampton Inn Harrisonburg - University. As a key member of our Engineering department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our hotel's facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and monitor buildings, equipment, and grounds to determine maintenance and preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Develop and implement work procedures and assign personnel to ensure efficient and effective maintenance services.
  • Prepare and submit cost estimates and repair options, including suggestions for feasibility, logical solutions, and actual needs.
  • Confer with personnel regarding maintenance budgeting, long-range planning, and capital expenditures.
  • Coordinate and conduct periodic fire drills and inspections, and maintain a secure building with regards to lock and key control.
  • Supervise and train maintenance staff, and ensure they are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties.
  • Perform activities of workers supervised, when necessary, and maintain guest confidentiality at all times.
  • Assist in handling emergencies to protect guests and associates, and preserve the building and its systems.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or general education degree (GED) or work equivalent.
  • Experience in advanced maintenance skills and aptitude, plus experience with modern building controls and maintenance.
  • Computer skills required, with familiarity with Microsoft Office and hotel systems such as MICROS preferred.
  • Methods, materials, and tools used in general building maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical units, and HVAC.
  • Good understanding of the English language and good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to exert physical effort in lifting/transporting at least 50 pounds, push/pull carts and equipment up to 150 pounds, and endure various physical movements throughout the work area.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be willing and able to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
