Job Title: Controls Technician

Join the University of Pennsylvania's Facilities and Real Estate Services team as a Controls Technician. This exciting opportunity will have you working on the maintenance and repair of commercial/industrial HVAC and Hydronic systems.

Job Summary:

The Controls Technician will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC electric, electronic, and mechanical devices. You will also interpret and work from drawings, sketches, and O&M manuals. Additionally, you will have knowledge and practices with rules and regulations required by NEC, OSHA, and NFPA70E.

Responsibilities:
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC electric, electronic, and mechanical devices.
  • Interpret and work from drawings, sketches, and O&M manuals.
  • Knowledge and practices with rules and regulations required by NEC, OSHA, and NFPA70E.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and replace pneumatic HVAC control system devices.
  • Ability to be trained to proficiently use a laptop computer to troubleshoot digital HVAC control systems.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license, free of any suspension/revocation from the individual state of permanent residence.
  • Experience and willingness to conduct work in a multi-trades job environment, work on multiple types of building equipment and systems, and work other trades personnel as assigned.
  • Successfully completed one of the following: an approved accredited apprenticeship 4-5 year in HVAC, HVAC trade specific vocational school 9 months to 2-year program, HVAC trade specific military school(s) or a corporate training program, with 5 to 7 years of experience with industrial and commercial HVAC systems.
Working Conditions:

The Controls Technician will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and changing priorities. You will be required to perform physical demands of the position including extensive walking, standing, bending, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting at least 50 pounds.
