Job Summary:

Blue & Co. is seeking an experienced Full-Charge Bookkeeper to join our team. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining the company's financial resources and supporting our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform month-end and year-end closing process, including preparation of financial statements and general ledger entries, account analysis and reconciliations ensuring consistency
  • Perform accounts receivable and accounts payable functions; maintain related files, including preparation and/or input of customer invoices and cash receipts and input of vendor invoices and preparation of cash disbursements
  • Preparation of weekly payroll for non-union employees, including payment of various tax and benefits on a weekly / monthly basis as required
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual payroll tax and information returns (W-2s & 1099s)
  • Perform inventory control
  • Coordination of tax reporting requirements with external accountant to file Federal and state corporate income tax returns and property tax returns
  • Assist in directing corporate insurance policies with administration of audits, claims and manuals
  • Assist with development and administration of employee benefits
  • Maintain employee files and records, including tracking vacation time and missed days
  • Maintain employee handbook
  • Managing advertising and marketing with newspaper publications and radio advertising
  • Perform miscellaneous clerical functions and completion of special projects as requested

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of the agricultural industry, especially grain farming and the seasonal nature is a plus
  • Willingness to learn, help grow and improve our expanding operations
  • Minimum of a 2-year accounting degree from an accredited college or university
  • 2+ years of accounting experience in a full charge bookkeeping function including financial statements, job costing and payroll
  • Excellent communication and service skills
  • Proficient with QuickBooks Enterprise, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
  • Proven ability to work independently and with a team as required
  • High integrity: behaviors and traits that exemplify high moral character and instills trust
  • Decision-making and strategic thinking skills, excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail

Physical Activities and Requirements:

  • The ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Able to work in sedentary, sitting position most of the time
  • Possess average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate office machinery including desktop or laptop
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities; ability to convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately
