Responsibilities


The Registered Nurse will report directly to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, with indirect accountability to the House Supervisor.

The RN is responsible for delivering both direct and indirect patient care in the perioperative environment, utilizing the nursing process which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients across all age groups.

The Registered Nurse will collaborate with surgeons and anesthesiologists to coordinate patient care, while also guiding and supervising the OR Technician and other staff members, ensuring adherence to professional nursing standards.

Additionally, the RN will work collaboratively with various departments to maintain a seamless continuum of care, ensuring quality patient experiences and efficient operational flow.

Compliance with regulations, standards, and hospital policies is essential, as is participation in performance improvement initiatives, unit meetings, and educational in-services. The RN will also serve as a resource for colleagues as needed.


Qualifications

Education and Experience

Current and valid state RN License is required. Candidates must possess a current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintain it throughout employment. ACLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) certifications are required within 30 days of hire and must be kept current.

A minimum of one year of previous perioperative experience or equivalent on-the-job training is preferred. Certification as a Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) is also desirable. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
