Occupational Therapist Assistant Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team in Overland Park. As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will work closely with our clients who have experienced brain injuries to help them achieve independence in their daily lives.
Responsibilities and Duties
- You will assist our clients in identifying their needs and developing strategies to accommodate the consequences of their brain injury.
- You will contribute to evaluations that address our clients' physical and mental abilities and analyze medical data to determine the best methods and strategies for therapies.
- You will evaluate and recommend changes to our clients' work or living environments that are consistent with their needs.
- You will integrate employment, educational, and independent living goals into therapy.
- You will collaborate with our clients and other professional staff to determine when goals are being met.
- You will attend team meetings and assist our clients in goal setting.
- You will provide services only as designated on each individual client's authorized plan of care.
- You will assist with the selection and utilization of adaptive equipment and/or home modifications, as well as processes for home and community environment.
- You will work directly with our clients to improve skills in all aspects of their life goals.
- You will document sessions with our clients in a timely manner, ensuring that records are goal-driven, concise, factual, and clear.
- You will educate families about the consequences of brain injury and communicate with them about goals and progress as needed.
- You will attend all trainings and workshops to maintain your ability to provide up-to-date, effective, and evidence-based practice.
- You will establish and maintain a professional rapport with all clients, co-workers, referral agents, and representatives of other community agencies and services.
- You will work under close direction of the assigned supervising therapist.
- You will perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
- You will be responsible for maintaining confidentiality of protected health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- You must have a high degree of sensitivity towards all people.
- You must be able to deal professionally with persons on a one-to-one basis.
- You must be able to effectively plan, coordinate, and assist with all aspects of a client's life.
- You must have excellent time management skills, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
- You must have creativity.
- You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- You must be able to meet deadlines.
- You must have basic to moderate technology skills, as our electronic medical record system is run on an iPad.

The estimated salary for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This figure is based on industry standards and is subject to change.
