Job Description

Minds Matter, LLC is a leading organization dedicated to empowering individuals who have experienced brain injuries to live independently in their communities. We provide innovative services and resources that enable consumers to relearn, reinvent, and reconnect with their surroundings.

We are currently seeking an experienced Supervising Occupational Therapist (OTR) for our Lawrence area. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising certified occupational therapist assistants (COTAs) and evaluating and completing assessments in person. This role offers the flexibility to work from home, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

The ideal candidate will possess a passion for helping individuals achieve greater independence in their lives by regaining physical, perceptual, and cognitive skills needed to perform daily activities. As an OTR, you will provide supervision to occupational therapy assistants and work collaboratively with consumers to develop skilled therapy goals related to balance, motor skills, posture, and perceptual and cognitive abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement Minds Matter, LLC's philosophical principles in all aspects of service delivery.
  • Review, co-sign, and provide feedback on daily notes of therapy assistants.
  • Assist individuals in identifying their needs and developing compensatory techniques to accommodate the consequences of their brain injury.
  • Evaluate consumers' physical and mental abilities and analyze medical data to determine best methods and strategies for therapies.
  • Complete documentation as necessary, including evaluations, progress notes, daily notes, letters of medical necessity, etc.
  • Integrate employment, educational, and independent living goals into therapy.
  • Collaborate with consumers and other professional staff to assess goal progress.
  • Attend team meetings and assist consumers in setting goals.
  • Provide services only as designated on each individual consumer's authorized plan of care.
  • Assess and recommend adaptive equipment and/or home modifications, as well as processes for home and community environment.
  • Work directly with consumers to improve skills in all aspects of their life goals.
  • Educate and train families and caregivers about brain injury strategies and techniques and communicate with them about goals and progress.
  • Attend all trainings and workshops to maintain up-to-date, evidence-based practice.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with consumers, coworkers, referral agents, and representatives of other community agencies and services.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of an occupational therapy program from an accredited university and current licensure in Kansas.
  • Ability to teach skills to individuals with disabilities.
  • Effective supervision and mentoring of therapy assistants.
  • High degree of sensitivity towards all people.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Creativity and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic to moderate technology skills, as our electronic medical record system is run on an iPad.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
