Job Summary

The Biomedical Equipment Technician I plays a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of biomedical equipment at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. This position requires a strong understanding of medical equipment and the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair biomedical equipment, following established procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repairs, including inventory and par levels of instruments and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and TJC guidelines, as well as adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with experienced BMETs and other team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Valid Virginia driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in the repair and maintenance of electronic equipment and/or medical equipment.
  • Associate's Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or Electronics or related field (preferred).
Working Conditions

This position requires prolonged standing, sitting, and walking, as well as frequent bending and reaching. The ability to lift 20-50 pounds is also required. The work environment is fast-paced and requires strong problem-solving skills, with frequent and intense customer interactions.
