Biomedical Research Models is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Animal Care Technician I to join our team. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and maintenance of laboratory animals, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and research integrity.
Key Responsibilities- Perform animal care procedures, including acclimation, handling, and restraint, cage-side observations, and provision of feed, water, and enrichment.
- Assist with the set-up, receipt, and unpack of animal shipments and supplies, adhering to standard operating procedures and study protocols.
- Operate and maintain equipment, such as autoclaves, cage washers, and Class II BSCs, according to SOPs.
- Conduct cage wash/rack wash procedures, preparing, sanitizing, and distributing cages, enclosures, and supplies in support of incoming animals and daily husbandry procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including animal identification, cage-side observations, equipment operation, and maintenance, and environmental parameters.
- Report atypical findings to veterinary staff and senior personnel.
- High School Diploma or AS Degree in Science (or equivalent degree) preferred.
- Certifications preferred: ALAT, LAT, LATG.
- 2 years of laboratory animal science experience for Technician II.
Biological safety level (BSL) 1 and 2 laboratory and vivarium settings.
Work ScheduleStandard workday: variable, but typically 7a-4p daily. Overtime may be required per business needs.
