Team Overview

The Search Team is pivotal in developing and managing TikTok's search engine, ensuring an optimal search experience for our users. As part of this team, you will engage in building a comprehensive search engine system, integrating information retrieval technologies with cutting-edge machine learning methodologies, including natural language processing and computer vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enhance search quality to deliver an exceptional user experience.
  • Leverage your expertise in product objectives alongside modern machine learning and information retrieval techniques to elevate search quality.
  • Develop core systems and algorithms focusing on query understanding, result ranking, query recommendations, and system reliability.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to peers based on your experience.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in developing and deploying large-scale consumer-facing services or backend systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, or Golang.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with domains such as search, recommendation systems, ranking, or advertising.
  • Knowledge in areas like machine learning, deep learning, backend development, large-scale systems, or data science.
  • Experience with Big Data frameworks, including Hadoop, Spark, or Flink.
