Job Summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Department Manager to join our team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of our store, providing exceptional customer service, and driving sales growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the daily operation of the store, including managing inventory, processing sales transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to customer inquiries, and resolving customer complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Support the management team in achieving sales goals, analyzing sales data, and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement visual merchandising displays, promotions, and events to drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all departments in the store, including books, music, movies, and gifts, to provide expert advice and recommendations to customers.
  • Act as a role model for customer service, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and a passion for delivering outstanding results.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in a retail setting, preferably in a management or buyer role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, colleagues, and management.
  • Basic reading, writing, and accounting skills required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
