Position Overview
Exciting leadership opportunity available for a dedicated Registered Nurse in the Operating Room, with a schedule of Monday to Friday from 6:30 AM to 3 PM.
The Registered Nurse will operate under the guidance of the Operating Room Manager, taking charge of overseeing and facilitating all activities and services within the hospital's Operating Room. This role is pivotal in managing patient flow, ensuring adherence to policies, and prioritizing the welfare of both patients and surgical teams. The RN will share responsibilities in upholding practice standards, departmental policies, and ensuring high-quality patient care. Additional duties include assisting in maintaining compliance with regulatory and legal standards by all personnel within the department. The RN will collaborate closely with management to enhance satisfaction, reporting, and coordination of departmental functions with operating room operations. This position also involves working with management to support retention and recruitment efforts, serving as a surgical resource for nursing staff and management alike.
Key Responsibilities
1. Implement and uphold standards of practice, along with departmental policies and procedures.
2. Review and integrate new or modified standards of practice in the Surgical Services sector.
3. Act as a subject matter expert in Surgical Services nursing practices and procedural areas.
4. Provide insights and feedback during the creation and review of departmental policies.
5. Ensure comprehensive understanding and compliance with established standards and policies.
6. Assess the impact of various factors, including cultural diversity, financial issues, and ethical considerations in healthcare.
7. Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of healthcare delivery.
8. Ensure that care respects individual rights and preferences.
9. Conduct employee performance evaluations in accordance with established policies.
10. Maintain current knowledge of compliance requirements through ongoing professional education.
11. Foster open communication and collaborative practices among staff, departments, and healthcare providers.
12. Promote a safe environment for both staff and patients.
13. Engage in performance improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care quality and operational efficiency.
14. Collaborate with management to ensure fiscal responsibility and implement cost-containment strategies.
15. Manage resources effectively to ensure availability for surgical cases.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- Diploma from an accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Registered Nurse (Single State) required.
- RN - Multi-state Compact required.
- Basic Life Support certification required.
- BLS Instructor certification preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of nursing experience in an operating room setting is required.
Skills Required
- Proficient in English language communication.
- Advanced knowledge and skills in Patient Flow and perioperative nursing.
- Strong organizational abilities and flexibility to manage complex situations.
- Excellent customer service skills and interdepartmental coordination capabilities.
- Ability to multi-task and function effectively in high-pressure environments.
- Strong attention to detail and computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
- Commitment to nursing practice advancement and adherence to ethical standards.
