About the Role

Abbott Laboratories is seeking a highly skilled Analytical Instrument Technician to join our team in the Global Engineering Services division. As an Analytical Instrument Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our analytical equipment and instruments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely and effectively perform service, calibration, and qualification of analytical equipment and instruments.
  • Apply moderately complex principles to troubleshoot and resolve equipment/instrument issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure tasks are performed and documented in compliance with approved procedures, standards, and quality requirements.
  • Ensure measurement traceability of Abbott products through measurement standards and/or maintaining artifacts whose value can be ascertained through basic physical constants.
  • Complete assigned workload within predetermined schedules and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and Subject Matter Expert in assigned measurement discipline(s).
  • Promptly communicate work status deviations, problems, and general information to the customer, supervision, and associates.
  • Maintain personal, professional, and technical expertise through attendance and participation in in-house and external training courses.
  • Demonstrate skills in working as a team member with other highly specialized, competent, and independent instrument service technicians.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry/biology or closely related discipline, or equivalent experience plus demonstrated competence.
  • 3+ years of experience in quality systems, qualification, and validation in a pharmaceutical/medical device environment.
  • Instrument use and service experience on a wide variety of analytical instruments/equipment, including HPLC, UPLC, FPLC, Spectrophotometers, Photometers, Refractometers, and Plate Readers.
  • Experience in the development of chemical reference materials and standards.
  • Experience in the development of measurement uncertainties, analysis, and performing statistical process control (SPC) where appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in quality systems, qualification, and validation in a pharmaceutical/medical device environment.
  • Quality and technical background in health care, nutritional products, laboratory diagnostics, medical devices, pharmaceutical, or similar industries.
  • Knowledge of measurement principles, measurement systems, metrology statistics, measurement assurance, and metrology software.
