Job Title: Construction Safety/Quality Control Officer

About the Role:

Tribal One Construction is seeking a highly skilled Construction Safety/Quality Control Officer to join our team in Gaithersburg, Maryland. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of our construction projects, adhering to federal regulations and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Responsibilities:
    • Develop, implement, and manage safety plans in compliance with federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and other relevant federal regulations.
    • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure safety measures are in place and effective, including identifying and rectifying safety hazards.
    • Provide safety orientation and ongoing safety training for site personnel, ensuring workers are aware of safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Investigate accidents, near-misses, and safety incidents, including reporting such incidents to federal authorities as required, and ensure corrective actions are taken to prevent future incidents.
    • Maintain safety logs, accident reports, and inspection records in compliance with federal and project-specific requirements.
    • Develop and implement emergency response plans, lead site emergency drills, and coordinate with emergency services when necessary.
  • Quality Control Responsibilities:
    • Ensure that all construction activities meet the quality standards and requirements outlined in the contract, including federal and state regulations.
    • Conduct regular quality inspections of materials, workmanship, and equipment to ensure compliance with project specifications.
    • Review and approve submittals, shop drawings, and samples, and coordinate material testing with third-party laboratories to verify compliance.
    • Identify non-conforming work, report deviations, and ensure corrective actions are taken, tracking and documenting any quality deficiencies.
    • Maintain a detailed record of inspection reports, testing results, and corrective actions, preparing daily quality reports for submission to the Project Manager and federal oversight bodies (if required).
    • Ensure that subcontractors adhere to quality control standards and safety regulations.
  • Federal Compliance:
    • Ensure all construction activities comply with federal guidelines, including those outlined by OSHA, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and other relevant agencies.
    • Prepare and submit required safety and quality documentation to federal agencies overseeing the project, including periodic compliance reports.
    • Ensure compliance with the Davis-Bacon Act and other labor-related federal guidelines, including proper documentation of employee wages and benefits.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, occupational health and safety, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in construction safety and quality control, preferably on federal construction projects.
  • Familiarity with federal contracting regulations (FAR) and federal safety/quality standards.
  • Must be either a citizen of the U.S. or a non-U.S. citizen who has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence as evidenced by a Permanent Resident Card (USCIS I-551).
  • Certifications:
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health & Safety Technologist (OHST), or similar, preferred.
    • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification, required.
    • Quality Control certification, such as Certified Quality Manager (CQM) by the Construction Quality Management (CQM) programs for contractors, preferred.
  • Ability to successfully pass and remain in compliance with required background checks from Tribal 1 and any required federal government background checks.
  • Must pass drug screen and remain in compliance with drug-free workplace policies.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand or sit for long periods of time, access roofs, crawl spaces, and all construction areas.

What We Offer:

Tribal One Construction offers a competitive wage of $80,000 - $100,000/annual, depending on experience, outstanding benefits, including an annual incentive bonus program, auto and cell phone allowances, health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance programs, and a 401(k) plan with company match.
