Job Summary:

The Transplant Department Donor Center Coordinator at Tampa General Hospital is responsible for collaborating with transplant surgeons and physicians to facilitate patients' matching for a solid organ transplant. This involves receiving offers through Donornet, acceptance or refusal of the organ, communicating offers to surgeons, calling in patients, coordinating transplant admissions, operating room case times, and ensuring appropriate order sets are initiated. The Donor Coordinator must possess advanced clinical skills to assess donor selection requirements of the transplant recipient population.

The Donor Coordinator is responsible for patient, significant other, and nursing staff education regarding transplant events. They are also responsible for wait list management and data entry into electronic systems such as the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and transplant-specific databases.

The Donor Coordinator must perform job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital. This includes possessing a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Science, or Biology, and being a Registered Nurse with a license issued by Florida or a Compact State. Additionally, the Donor Coordinator must be certified as a Procurement Transplant Coordinator or Clinical Transplant Coordinator.
