Position Summary and Responsibilities

The Environmental Services Team Member operates under the guidance of EVS Management and is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Performing cleaning duties as assigned, with a focus on the comfort of patients and their visitors.
  • Exhibiting respect and understanding for the dignity and values of all patients and guests.
  • Ensuring adherence to all necessary processes and protocols.
  • Following Infection Control policies to maintain a safe environment.
  • Promoting efficient execution of all required cleaning duties.
  • Complying with all hospital and departmental housekeeping policies.
  • Understanding and following safety protocols related to chemicals and equipment used.
  • Respecting patient privacy by announcing oneself before entering occupied rooms.
  • Maintaining a positive demeanor and fostering teamwork by assisting colleagues.
  • Providing a warm welcome to all clients and family members.
  • Responding to requests with tact and professionalism.
  • Communicating effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Safeguarding the confidentiality of hospital and patient information.
  • Using supplies judiciously and maintaining the equipment used.
  • Documenting any found personal property according to proper procedures.
  • Alerting supervisors to any safety hazards encountered.
  • Completing all assigned tasks within the designated shift.
  • Assisting in various duties or areas of the department as needed.
Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include two years of experience in environmental services within a healthcare setting. Proficiency in reading, writing, and conversing in English is required.
