About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Meat Department Associate to join our team at Marukai Corp. As a key member of our grocery store team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction and providing exceptional service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Stock and unpack meat products in a timely and efficient manner
  • Set up and maintain the condition of the meat department according to company standards
  • Ensure meat is handled, stocked, rotated, and merchandised to meet customer expectations
  • Check product area temperature to ensure freshness and quality
  • Process and/or wrap meat items prior to filling designated areas
  • Cutting, labeling, and wrapping meat products
  • Operating pallet jack, scissor lift, baler, compactor, and scrub machine
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the store and store upkeep
  • Cleaning and sanitizing work areas
Customer Service
  • Providing premier customer service, including greeting customers and responding to questions
  • Engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
  • Meets or exceeds department's sales goals assigned through the efficient execution of company policies and procedures
  • Maintaining cleanliness of work area, storage area, and selling floor
  • Ensuring a safe and clean work environment
  • Cross-training
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Must be 18 or older to use sharp knives, use ladders, scaffolds, or their substitutes, substitutes above 6 feet in height, and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment
  • Must be able to use job-related equipment such as slicer, scale, saw, knife, and wrapper
  • No experience required, but a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in a similar work environment is preferred
  • Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or deli clerk experience is preferred
  • Possess a CA Food Handling license or the ability to acquire one
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without aid
Working Conditions

Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aides necessary to perform job duties. Hands are in frequent contact with water, vegetables, deli, and sushi meat while performing job duties.
