Job Summary

The University of Texas at Arlington is seeking a highly skilled Post Award Grant and Contract Specialist I to join our team. As a key member of our research administration department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful administration and processing of external and internal sponsored projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide post award guidance and support to researchers, departmental and center/institute administrators, regarding the allowability of costs, reporting requirements, award closeout, and other compliance activities.
  • Administer and monitor procedures designed to comply with UTA policies and procedures, as well as enforce sponsor regulatory requirements.
  • Review terms and conditions of new awards, reconcile discrepancies, and notify PI's of established budget, reporting requirements, and other grant-specific terms and conditions.
  • Monitor post award activities to ensure compliance with issues involving allowable costs, re-budgeting, and reporting requirements, payroll confirmation, cost sharing, and spending limitations.
  • Serve as a primary resource for post award grant questions, communicate with and recommend and advise faculty and staff regarding post award issues, request corrections, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Work with the PI and administrators to close out projects in accordance with the sponsor and university closeout guidelines and requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and updated e-files and tracking spreadsheets.
  • Assist management in the preparation of ad-hoc reports.
  • Monitor compliance with sponsored project-related time and effort commitments and federal effort reporting requirements.
  • Participate in special projects, such as developing and presenting training workshops, drafting, updating, and amending post award processes, procedures, and report development.
  • Some supervision of Post Award student assistant.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business or public administration, social sciences, or equivalent experience or a combination of the two.
  • One year of experience in a higher education institution or in a role that involves reviewing and interpreting federal and/or state policies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Above-average written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact positively with various people within the department, as well as vendors and clients.
