Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Materials Testing Technician to join our team at NOVA Engineering and Environmental, LLC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting field testing and inspections of construction materials to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Testing and Inspections: Conduct field testing and inspections of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and masonry mortar/grout to ensure compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and/or project specifications.
  • Review of Blueprints: Review blueprints in preparation for field observations on construction sites.
  • Documentation: Document field activities, observations, and testing results on construction projects, and their conformance with (or deviation from) project plans and specifications.
  • Communication: Communicate field and laboratory testing results with Construction Services and Geotechnical Project Management staff, general contractors, and clients.
  • Equipment Calibration: Calibrate field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials is required.
  • Certifications: ACI certification is required. ICC certifications in Soils, Reinforced Concrete, etc. are preferred.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to routinely lift 40 to 50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment) is required.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel out-of-town (typically overnight) for short duration assignments is required.
