Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Child Protective Services Worker to join our team at the State of Oregon. As a key member of our Child Welfare team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of Oregon's most vulnerable children and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough and equitable assessments of child safety and risk, utilizing a trauma-informed lens to inform decision-making.
  • Develop and implement effective case plans to support families and ensure the best possible outcomes for children.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including law enforcement, healthcare providers, and community organizations, to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated response to child welfare needs.
  • Provide education and support to families, caregivers, and resource parents to promote healthy relationships and positive parenting practices.
  • Document and maintain accurate and timely records of case activities, assessments, and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of experience in human services, social work, or a related field, or completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and trauma-informed care.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with children and families in a child welfare or social services setting.
  • Knowledge of Oregon's child welfare system and policies.
  • Fluency in a second language, particularly Spanish or other languages commonly spoken in Oregon.
  • Experience with crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and behavior management techniques.
