Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our Environmental Engineering team in Chesterfield County, VA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a team of Senior Engineers and ensuring that engineering plans comply with State and Federal requirements for erosion control and stormwater management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of Senior Engineers responsible for reviewing and approving engineering plans for residential subdivision and linear project development.
  • Ensure that plans comply with State and Federal requirements for erosion control and stormwater management, including the Virginia Stormwater Management Program (VSMP) and Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act.
  • Confer with consulting engineers, developers, and contractors to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Respond to inquiries or complaints from the public pertaining to erosion control and drainage issues.
  • Develop and enhance the skills of subordinates and coworkers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering, including coursework in hydraulics/hydrology.
  • Five years of increasingly responsible experience in civil/environmental engineering or a closely related field, including one year of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Professional Engineer license required.
  • Strong PC skills and experience with hydraulic modeling software required.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and experience in working with engineers, developers, contractors, and the public are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) as a Stormwater Management Plan Reviewer.
  • Current valid driver's license and good driving record required.
