Job Overview

Benchmark Consulting is seeking two dedicated full-time Cellar Technicians to support our production team in various operations related to wine production, including crush processes, cellar management, and bottling activities. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in a prestigious wine-making environment.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidates will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the production team throughout the year, particularly during crush, fermentation, aging, blending, and bottling phases.
  • Conducting all necessary barrel maintenance, including stacking, cleaning, and storage management.
  • Performing sampling and monitoring fermentation by taking Brix and temperature readings, while accurately recording data.
  • Executing monthly sulfur additions and ensuring barrels are topped appropriately.
  • Operating forklifts for handling grape bins, barrels, case goods, and other winery equipment.
  • Engaging in various harvest tasks, such as sorting, pump-overs, and basket press operations.
  • Preparing for bottling and actively participating in the bottling line operations.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of cellar equipment and facilities.
  • Efficiently completing work orders and communicating any issues or safety concerns to the production team.
  • Utilizing the Innovint platform for work order management.
  • Upholding high standards of wine quality and understanding the progression of wine and potential abnormalities.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of cellar and winery equipment.
Qualifications:

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 1-5 years of experience in wine production or cellar operations.
  • Current Forklift Operator certification.
  • Availability for extended hours during peak production periods.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, for effective communication.
  • Ability to work safely around machinery and chemicals.
  • Strong reliability, work ethic, and teamwork skills.
  • A valid CA Driver's license and legal authorization to work in the USA.
Physical Requirements:

Candidates must be able to:

  • Lift up to 60 lbs, including moving heavy barrels and machinery.
  • Stand for long periods, walk, kneel, and climb ladders.
  • Work in diverse environments, including indoor and outdoor settings with varying temperatures.
  • Perform repetitive motions for extended durations.
