Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse I (LVN I) to join our team at the HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION. As an LVN I, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with complex medical, mental health, and behavioral health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide routine vocational nursing work, including basic and routine nursing tasks to promote the health of individuals within assigned areas and shifts.
  • Instruct direct support professionals and other staff on how to provide service and care that support individuals' medical needs.
  • Perform technical nursing procedures according to facility and state regulations.
  • Assist other nursing staff in acclimating and orienting new LVNs to nursing functions at the facility.
  • Work under the direction and moderate supervision of a Registered Nurse with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Requirements
  • Administer medications and treatments orally, rectally, internally, or by injection.
  • Assist other medical staff, such as Registered Nurses (RNs), Physicians, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, and Physician Assistants, in examining and caring for patients.
  • Makes rounds and/or home visits as needed and works in other locations at the facility as needed.
  • Demonstrate competency in performing technical nursing tasks and procedures in accordance with HHSC, SH, and state regulations.
