Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse I to join our team at the Texas Health & Human Services Commission. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to individuals with complex medical, mental health, and/or behavioral health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide routine vocational nursing work, including basic and routine nursing tasks to promote the health of individuals within assigned areas and shifts.
  • Instruct direct support professionals and other staff on how to provide service and care that support individuals' medical needs.
  • Perform technical nursing procedures according to facility and state regulations.
  • Keep informed of and follow all agency, facility, and unit policies and procedures.
  • Assist other nursing staff in acclimating and orienting new LVNs to nursing functions at the facility.
Requirements
  • Licensed to practice as a licensed vocational nurse in the state of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) program.
  • Experience working or volunteering directly with persons with mental illness preferred.
